Stefan Brown

We can confirm that striker Stefan Brown has left Basingstoke Town FC. S

Brown, in his second spell at the club and a part of our treble winning campaign, scored 15 goals in 61 appearances, including a double as ‘Stoke retained the North Hampshire Cup in May.

The experienced forward is set to join newly promoted Marlow FC who we’ll welcome to Winklebury on Boxing Day.

Stefan, reflecting on his time at the club said “Whilst my time at the club has come to an end, I’m extremely grateful to everyone connected to Basingstoke Town FC for making my time so enjoyable. I wish my body would have allowed me to contribute more, but appreciated the love and support I received from everyone regardless.

There’s too many to thank individually but hope you all know how much you’ve meant to me. I will see you all again to say a proper good bye at some point. Up the ‘Stoke!”

Manager Dan Brownlie added “It’s been an absolute pleasure to work with Stefan. He’s someone I’d wanted to work with for years and it was a big moment when we got him in. Good players want to play with good players; and like others in the past, his signing showcased that intent of moving forward which encouraged others to trust the ongoing club ambition.”

“There’s no doubt that Stefan’s body has been unkind to him. Yet his commitment to getting himself fit, his mental resilience to overcome setbacks and the manner in which he did all of it is typical of his character. More so, in those moments – he wasn’t a passenger, he was a driving force in encouraging others to- especially his work with some of the younger players. You don’t always get to see that from a fan side, but it’s hugely valuable.”

“He’s scored some important goals, created some special moments including that memorable night at Fratton Park. He leaves as a treble winner and as a part of our rich recent history.

I know it wasn’t an easy decision for him, and he can walk out the front door with good grace and blessing.”

Everyone at Basingstoke Town FC wishes Stefan the very best and we wish to thank him for his commitment and dedicated service to our club.
