Preview: South Park Reigate (A)

Tomorrow afternoon we face South Park Reigate in a three o’clock kick off at King George’s Field.

News broke yesterday of their now ex-manager Harrison Williams joining Bedfont Sports. They have since advertised the vacant managerial position which is unlikely to be in place by tomorrow’s game, so it’s likely that an in-house caretaker will take charge of the game.

South Park Reigate who currently sit in seventh position enter the game following a 2-0 win against, ironically, Bedfont Sports. Those goals came from their leading marksman Aiden Brown, who currently sits fifth in the top goalscorer charts with 9 goals. Zak Basey, goalkeeper and most capped player this season is most likely to feature in goal. Central defender, Joe Bell, will be marshalling the line alongside captain Matthew Faithorn.

Your Basingstoke Squad…

Despite significant injuries and absences, Basingstoke side enter the game with four wins on the bounce. Our latest win saw a number of Academy players gaining valuable senior experience, and as Dan Brownlie explains, they could be in within the squad again this weekend…

“Tuesday was a great exercise. It not only allowed us to award Academy players with their debuts, but also to see how they got on within our environment. I thought they did very well. A number of them will be with us on Saturday because of it.”

Basingstoke’s last league game saw us win against a difficult Tooting & Mitcham side. A penalty finished by James Clark secured the 4-2 win in front of another impressive ‘Stoke crowd. Dan Brownlie notes that there are forced changes to that side coming into the weekend…

“We’ve got a fair few out of the game Saturday, but on the positive side we will hopefully see the return of the Skipper. We’ve had to crowbar a few people into unfamiliar positions, especially through the middle. It’ll be great to have him back. James Haworth trained for the first time this week, but Saturday will come a little too soon. Michael Atkinson will be close. We’ll have to see how he is over the next 24 hours or so.”

“The atmosphere at our last away game was brilliant. We’re hopeful that our faithful will continue to get behind us in the same manner.”
