We can confirm that Goalkeeper Paul Strudley has signed for the 2021/22 season.
‘Struds’ first signed at the beginning of the 2020/21 campaign but due to COVID issues he was unable to feature in any of our competitive games. The former Hungerford Town shot-stopper has previously worked with Dan Brownlie at neighbours Hartley Wintney – in both of those sides he played a pivotal role in promotions.
Dan Brownlie commented on his latest signing:
“Struds is a classy keeper as much as he is a classy guy. He exudes a level of calmness that spreads through the team and particularly his defensive quarters. He makes goalkeeping look incredibly simple and we all understand its not! He’s been working hard with our keeper coaches over the course of pre-season and has been looking sharp, especially in training. He looks like he’s got another twenty years in him, although admittedly he’s been saying ‘one more year’ for about five seasons now.”
“As a keeper at this level, he’s got unrivalled experience and his organisational abilities will help us no-end. We’re so pleased to have Struds on board. Our ‘GK union’ is a very strong asset of ours – as it was last season. We’ve got two keepers and another who we can call upon, plus some real quality in our younger teams coming through.”
Geraint Holliman & Lance Forster make up our GK Coaching Staff. Geraint commented: “Struds has exceptional athleticism and comes with immense experience that will benefit the whole team.”
