It is with regret that we announce the departure of Nnamdi Nwachuku from Basingstoke Town FC.
The striker joined us during pre-season and quickly made a name for himself with his performances. Among his contributions during the season included the breathtaking strike at Gloucester City and the decisive goal in our home victory over Winchester City.
Manager Dan Brownlie spoke candidly about the decision:
“I can’t lie – it was a really tough conversation, only made easier by the understanding, good grace, and kindness of Nnams, which we’ve come to expect from him. I’ve grown really fond of him as a player and as a person. In different circumstances, I’d jump at the chance to work with him again, but unfortunately, financial realities have forced our hand.”
“He’s been a joy to work with—honest, open, and passionate. He wears his heart on his sleeve, both on and off the pitch. Recently, he volunteered his time for a Q&A session with our youth players. Those moments matter. It speaks volumes about his character. You don’t have to do things like that, especially at this level, but it shows the kind of man Nnams is.”
Nnams noted:
“I leave with nothing but admiration & respect for this great club. The support from the fans have been incredible. To the staff, volunteers & players, I wish you the very best.”
We wish him every success in his future endeavors and hope our paths cross again. Thank you, Nnams, for everything.
