We can confirm that after positive talks with the Berkshire based club, we have arranged for Basingstoke’s FA Cup tie versus Bournemouth FC to take place at the home of Reading City – The Rivermoor Stadium.
The Reading City pitch is looking in great condition and it also boasts plenty of space for our supporters in the enclosed arena as well as newly refurbished sizeable bar.
With our inclusion in the earliest round of the FA Cup the previously hired ground at Winchester City FC was unavailable due to pitch renovations and with ongoing building works in the early stages of September – Winklebury is yet up to scratch.
By Train, it takes just over 20 minutes from Basingstoke to Reading West with departures running every 25 minutes. The station is just under a mile and half walk from the ground at Scours Lane with plenty of buses that run along the Oxford Road.
By car, the journey is time is little over over half an hour from Winklebury Way and the stadium itself has plenty of parking spaces available.
Reading Town centre (one train stop on) is only short distance away and is home to a wide selection of bars, pubs and restaurants. Closer to the ground the pubs include the Pond House, the Tylers Rest and the White Eagle.
Securing this allows for us to continue to be the hosts for the game, welcome supporters and also offer a good experience for our fans with regards to travel and access to facilities.
We are looking forward to welcome our loyal support to the game.
Basingstoke Town take on Bournemouth FC in the extra-preliminary round of the FA Cup on Tuesday 01 September at 7.45pm.
