We are proud to announce the signing of Elliott Bolton from Weymouth FC.
The central midfielder returns to the club following a very brief spell back in October 2020. So brief in fact that it ended up just being one game versus AFC Totton at Winchester City. Since that point, the then AFC Wimbledon loanee, has kept in contact with Manager Dan Brownlie and the stars aligned to make his return.
The midfielder is well regarded for his defensive attributes, work-rate and his ability to break up play and in turn, get play started! Elliott joins us from National South club Weymouth where he recently picked up a string of man of the match performances.
“I’m really excited to get going” noted Bolton, “I’ve known Dan for a numbers of years now since my time at AFC Wimbledon. I even know some of the squad from my time here nearly four season ago. I’ve trained with the squad already this week; I’m confident I am going to enjoy my football here. It’s a good group. I’m already looking forward to Saturday afternoon.”
Dan Brownlie noted on his latest acquisition…
“Since Michael’s [Atkinson] news; we’ve been on the look out to bolster our midfield but we didn’t want to just bring in a body for the sake of it. In Elliott, we’ve secured a really talented player and someone who will fit right in with the group.”
“He’s an honest worker, and similarly to Acko – has great qualities out of possession. He’s got an old fashioned box-to-box approach, but its his defensive work that will set him apart; he’s different to what we have. We feel with him in the team; it free’s up some of our other midfielders to be a little more ambitious going forward. Elliott made contact with us earlier in the week in noting he’d decided to leave Weymouth – it wasn’t something we were expecting, but really pleased he thought of us.”
Thank you to Weymouth Football Club for enabling our ability to sign Elliott ahead of the traditional 7 days.
We’re sure Elliott and his family will receive a great welcome tomorrow afternoon when we host Hendon FC at Winklebury Football Complex where Elliott could well make his debut.
Welcome to Basingstoke Town Football Club, Elliott!
