We are proud to announce the signing of Jahmari Clarke on a short term agreement.
Dan Brownlie offers his thoughts and reasons on making the move and how it came to fruition:
“I often head to watch Reading U21s and have done for sometime now, for three reasons: the pure enjoyment of watching a game without the tactical deep-dive, the chance to tune into the dugout discussions of other managers, and to keep an eye on emerging local talent. Jahmari stood out when I watched him—a real presence on the pitch, both in quality and stature.”
“A couple of weeks back, I learned he was without a club from Marquel, who heads up Academy player care at Reading. We had a chat, and that initial conversation has evolved from there. In football, those speculative conversations can sometimes open doors—and this was one of those times.”
“With our forward line hit hard by recent injuries, having Jahmari join us for tonight makes sense. Our walking wounded are nearly back to full fitness, so this short-term arrangement suits everyone. As for what happens beyond tonight, that’s a decision for later. For now, we’re proud to bring in a player of Jahmari’s talent.”
Clarke began his professional journey with our friends at Reading FC, making his debut in the EFL Cup on August 10, 2021, against Swansea City. Just a week later, he made his league debut, replacing George Pușcaș during a close Championship match with Bristol City. Clarke quickly made his mark with Reading fans on November 6, 2021, when he came off the bench once again and scored twice in a 2-1 victory over Birmingham City and has featured on loan for Woking, Forest Green and Yeovil Town.
Jahmari is available for selection for tonight’s game versus Chertsey.
Welcome to Basingstoke, Jahmari.
