Club Statement – Fan Behaviour

Following recent incidents at Basingstoke Town first team arranged fixtures, we would like to remind a small minority of fans that unacceptable conduct and violent and disorderly activities will not be tolerated by the Club.

Unacceptable conduct and violent and disorderly activities put the safety of players, officials, supporters and other persons connected with the fixture at risk and such activities are deemed to be a breach of FA Guidelines. The result of these investigations may result in multiple fines being issued to BTCFC from The FA.

Following Saturday’s away game, a number of incidents are being investigated. Those that have been immediately identified as participants will be issued with a temporary ban from BTCFC, pending the outcome of the FA’s investigation. Those people who have already been identified will be contacted in due course.

If the conclusion of these investigations proves that unacceptable conduct and/or disorderly activities took place, it will result in further actions being taken by the Club. This may include more permanent bans on those individuals that have acted irresponsibly.

We are extremely proud of our fanbase and we encourage passionate, respectful support so as to ensure our home and away games are a safe and pleasant environment for everyone to enjoy and we will not allow a small minority of supporters to act in this way.

By way of clarification, BTCFC accepts a shared duty of care in respect of overall ground safety – home and away – and we must do all we can to prevent unacceptable conduct and disorderly activities.

Unacceptable conduct and violent and disorderly activities include (but is not limited to):

  • Any sort of hate, sectarian, religious, bigoted, homophobic, racist or sexist behaviour.
  • Aggressiveness or violent behaviour, including fighting, aggravating behaviour and damage to the ground and its facilities.
  • Drunk and disorderly behaviour.
  • Threatening and/or abusive behaviour.
  • Throwing of items.
  • Using smoke flares, smoke grenades or pyrotechnics.
  • Any incursions onto the field of play.

Any individual who participates in unacceptable conduct and/or violent and disorderly activities – home or away – will automatically be ejected and BTCFC reserves the right to take further sanctions, including exclusion from the ground for a period of time or permanently. Unacceptable conduct and/or violent and disorderly activities may also result in a Football Banning Order being served against the individual(s).

The details of Supporters involved in unacceptable conduct and violent and disorderly activities will also be passed to away clubs ahead of any future away fixtures, so as to help minimise potential incidents.

We thank the vast majority of our well behaved, loyal and growing fanbase for their continued support and respecting the badge.
