Au revoir, Luis!

We can confirm that Luis Le Paih has chosen to join fellow Southern Premier side Hanwell Town.

The Frenchman, who signed with us in July 2022 from Reading City, quickly became a pivotal presence in the heart of our midfield. Despite his seasons being disrupted by injury, Luis stood out with his smooth dribbling and intelligent passing, becoming a popular figure at the club.

Ahead of the official announcement, Luis shared his thoughts:

“An opportunity arose at Hanwell Town FC, and I’ve made the difficult decision to leave Basingstoke Town. It wasn’t an easy choice, as I’ve had an incredible experience since joining in 2022. I will never forget the celebrations with our fans after that Championship-winning final game and the Cup final at Fratton Park in Portsmouth.”

“My family and I would like to extend our gratitude to the managers, physios, volunteers, and the amazing supporters who have made me feel so special over the past two seasons. It’s a fantastic community, and I wish Basingstoke all the best for the upcoming season.”

Dan Brownlie also shared his thoughts:

“We’re truly gutted to see him go, no doubt about that. We were clear that we didn’t want him to leave, but I completely respect his decision. His game time has been limited in the early weeks of the season. Luis has been nothing short of outstanding for us—he’s a fantastic player and an even better person.

He’s been unfortunate not to play more often this season. With the new additions like Max and Rudy raising the level of competition, even top players have missed out. Unfortunately, it’s the evil side of football. When he wasn’t on the pitch, other managers noticed and took their chance.

We’ve loved having him here, and I’d love to work with him again in the future. His family has been wonderfully supportive of him and the Club—they will be sorely missed as well.”

Thank you for everything, Luis.

Bonne chance!
