Basingstoke Town Community FC Chairman Jack Miller provides some more information ahead of today’s deadline for board position applications.
“Thank you to those of you who reached out to apply for some of the roles put out in the vacancies article last week – some of these roles have now been filled and we’re so grateful to those of you who have put the wheels in motion to begin volunteering with us. We’ve now replied to each person and are waiting to hear back from others.
We’re still keen on hearing from additional people who wish to put their hands up as willing volunteers to get involved in specific projects and areas we have identified within the Club.
Separately, if you wish to apply for a formal position on the board of Directors at Basingstoke Town Community FC, today (Wednesday 6th November 2024) is the final day that you can do so before Monday 18th November’s AGM.
To apply, you must be a signed up Community Club Member, been nominated by at least two fully paid up Community Club Members and have provided your Nomination Form.
If you still wish to apply for a Board position and therefore require a Nomination Form, please email club@btfc.co.uk to receive this form and some more information. Anyone who has recently registered their interest have now all been provided with this information via email.
There are 5 board positions available at November 18th’s AGM (which includes some current board members who constitutionally have to seek re-election) and the board are also able to co-opt additional Community Club Members if their particular skill sets etc. are something that we feel is missing or can complement our current board.
At the AGM, Community Club Members will vote for their choices of who will join the Community Club Board and those with the most votes will be announced on the evening. I urge all Community Club Members to come along to the Clubhouse for the AGM on the evening of Monday 18th November to vote.
The process may seem somewhat formal but we are constitutionally bound to follow this process in the interests of openness and fairness.
Once the board has been finalised, the board will decide and vote themselves who will be assigned to each particular role, e.g. Director of Football.
I just wanted to make the above point clear as some people have registered their interest in particular roles on the board and whilst they may be voted on to the board by the Members at the AGM, each role will ultimately be decided by the board at the next board meeting. If you are successful in joining the board but not necessarily for the role you wish, you will still remain a general member of the board.
Thanks to anyone applying to become a board member, to reiterate, please make sure you’re a signed up Community Club Member (btfc.co.uk/sign-up), have registered your interest via club@btfc.co.uk (so we can send you some more details, exclusions and the nomination form) and you have to fill in the nomination form and send it to the email address provided by the end of today.
We are a not-for-profit community football club, run by our fans, so all Directors are volunteers, working for the good of the club and the wider-football community.
If you would like to view our Constitution, you can do so here: Basingstoke Town Community FC Constitution.
Many thanks for your interest and I look forward to hosting the AGM in the coming weeks, more information on this will be sent to Members in due course.”
If you have any questions or queries regarding the above, please reach out to club@btfc.co.uk – we will provide you with a response via email.
