Ben Cook to undergo surgery.

We can confirm that midfielder Ben Cook is scheduled for surgery on Monday, 21st October, to address a hernia issue in his hip.

The 27-year-old who starred in yesterday’s 2-1 versus Hanwell Town has been managing the injury for several months but, with a surgery date now confirmed, he has decided to resolve the problem as soon as possible.

Seanagh McCarthy head of medical explains: “Ben is set to undergo surgery Monday 21st to address an inguinal hernia. This is an issues Ben has been managing since the end of last season waiting for an operation date to come through. The procedure will involve repairing the hernia site to allow Ben to continue playing football and coaching. Following surgery, Ben will be working hard off the pitch on his recovery with the medical and sport science team. We can expect him to be back to full fitness around Christmas time. We’ll be working closely with Ben to ensure a full and safe recovery”

Dan Brownlie noted: “We’re gutted to be without Ben during the build up to Christmas; but we’re confident that he’ll be better off because of it. He’s such an important player for us and we’re just thankful that he can join us again for the second half of the season. We’ve taken a bit of a hit in recent weeks. With Hodges going to Australia and Robbie Gallagher out for so long. When you lose players of such effectiveness, it can take time to adjust – but I’ve no doubt we will do. We’ve got a great medical team here, its something we’re really proud of, so both Ben and Robbie will be in great hands.”
