We are proud to announce that club captain Simon Dunn has been retained for the 2024/25 Season
Dunn will continue his role as club captain for Basingstoke Town FC for the upcoming 2024/25 season. Dunn’s leadership, dedication, and passion for the club have been instrumental in our recent successes, and we are delighted to have him lead the team for another season.
Simon Dunn, a ‘Stoke stalwart and a true embodiment of the club’s values, has been an integral part of Basingstoke Town FC since he rejoined his hometown club in 2020. His commitment on and off the pitch has been exemplary, inspiring both teammates and supporters alike. Under his captaincy, we have won four trophies in the past two seasons including a championship title.
Dunn expressed his excitement for the upcoming season, stating, “I am really pleased to have been given the opportunity to sign again for what will be my 10th season at the club! Even though I appreciate I am coming towards the latter stages of my career, I remain very excited to play a part in continuing to help this great club thrive both on and off the pitch.”
Manager Dan Brownlie also shared his confidence in Dunn’s leadership, saying, “Whilst many would have expected this announcement; its importance should not be overlooked. He’s been a crucial cog in our recent rise; both on and off the pitch – despite being hugely popular amongst supporters, they’ll probably still never be able truly appreciate his full value. He was the catalyst for our push forward and the constant in its continuation. He’s a calm head in stormy moments and a spark in dull ones. We should feel very proud that a man of his quality and heart wants to keep pushing this club, and his town, forward.”
