Squad Update

Basingstoke town FC News

We caught up with Dan Brownlie before this afternoon’s game to detail some of the new additions and for a quick injury update.

“We’ve brought in a few of the young academy boys, and whilst this is somewhat forced on us by injury, its a great opportunity for them to showcase what they can do and to be around the environment for vital experience. Dan Morrisey and Louis Wilson have both signed first team forms and involved in today’s squad – they’ve been impressing at Academy level and there’s every chance they’ll feature today. They’ll be joined by Hugo, Joel and Joe Western who will be familiar at least by name to a lot of supporters having been in previous squads”

“We’ve brought in a very experienced centre half in Gareth Thomas. It was a bit of an SOS call midweek and we’re really pleased that he has agreed to it. In truth, the purposes of his signing are for this game, as with both Dallers and Scotty out it was important we got someone in. I’ve known Gaz for some 17 years now, he had a nasty injury a year or so ago and he hasn’t played a huge amount, but I’ve no doubt his experience today will be valuable, especially in the style we think this game will play out. ”

“We are missing Scott, Stefan, Reidy, Dallimore and Anton all through injury, Dunny sadly got hit with COVID in the early stages of the week and Lloyd needs to be with his family this weekend. Evo has made the decision to get regular football at Ascot United, which I’m sure we’ll do a more formal announcement on soon – so it’s not been an easy week, but we can’t feel sorry for ourselves. Time to strap on a tin hat and dig a trench!”
