Community Club launch Womens Football Program
It has always been a long term plan for the Community Club that we have wanted to have a Womens Football Program that encompasses not only Adult and Junior football but later on down the line a Female Academy that will mirror the structure and success of our Male Academy and the club are pleased to announce that these plans will start in the 2020/21 season.
Club Chairman Terry Brown is driving the initiative and this will start in the 2020/21 season with the age groups of U8s, U9s and U10s as well as an adult Womens Team. With the Junior teams registered to play in the Hampshire Girls Youth League and the Women’s team to play in the Hampshire County Womens Football League, the club are looking forward to announcing the Coaches and Managers shortly. The Chairman said ‘being a true Community Club means making football accessible for all and the next step is to start our Womens football program and it is going to be fantastic to be able to this from the coming season.’ He said ‘it has always been a plan of ours to ensure that we had this offering as Womens football is booming at the moment and for our club not to have a Womens set up isn’t right, so we are proud to be able to start this off now and look forward to welcoming new players to the club.’
The womens football program was well received by Basingstoke MP, Maria Miller who said ‘I am delighted to hear that the Women’s Football program has begun. Women’s football is going from strength to strength and it is great that Basingstoke Town Community Football Club is taking an active role in developing the Women’s Game.’
There are open trials on the Monday 29th June for the U8, U9 and U10 teams with trials for the Womens team being held on Thursday 9th July, both at 6.30pm and being held at Winklebury Sports Complex. Your interest cane be registered by emailing the club on email@example.com.
