New signing Danny Vickers is to undergo surgery.
Danny who is yet to feature for the club due to injury will undergo an operation to resolve his current injury woes. The Basingstoke based midfielder who signed from Alresford at the start of the season had been training for the London Marathon, but the injury set back put that in doubt some weeks before what ended up being cancelled event. Danny has suffered a ‘Hip impingement and cartilage tear’ and the treatment will take place mid-November.
“It’s a blow that’s for sure.” Dan Brownlie commented, “I know how much Danny wants to get out there in Basingstoke colours and we’re the same. It means a lot to him to represent his home town and we’ll do everything we can to help him get back out there as soon as possible following a full recovery. That said, it’s a positive step as he’s going to finally put to bed an injury that has caused him a number of set backs over a fairly lengthy period. He’s a top lad and we want to keep him involved where we can. We’re not going to put any pressure on a return date – Danny will be back when he’s ready and I know he’s got the attitude and application to come back and help this this team.”
Everyone at the club would like to wish Danny all the very best with the operation and the subsequent rehabilitation that will follow. We can’t wait to see him out there in the colours of Basingstoke.
