BTCFC Meet with local MP Maria Miller
Yesterday officials and fans from the club met with local MP Maria Miller following an active social media appeal created by our supporters and a direct request from the club at the end of last week. Club Chairman, Terry Brown, Board Members Kevin White and Martin French together with long term supporters Andrew Hargrove and James Royston, who also personally wrote to the MP and Academy Manager Aaron Nicholson met at the new home of the club Winklebury Football Complex. In a meeting lasting nearly two hours Maria Miller was shown the work that needs to be completed to get the existing ground up to standards and also the financial difficulty that we are in due to the non-committal from the clubs previous owner Rafi Razzak to provide any upfront funding to bring our football club home. A large part of the meeting was discussing the future plans for the club over the next 12 months and beyond which included Women’s Football, our plans to grow the Academy and junior teams and also how, once we are playing football back in the town, we can increase the community work we already do from 300 children a week to much more.
‘It was a positive meeting and great to get across the facts to Maria, but we have to remember she doesn’t have a magic wand to wave which will get us into Winklebury.’ Terry Brown said ‘she has taken some action points away with her which we believe will help and I would like to say thank you to her for taking the time to come and see us and hear our struggles and more importantly our plans for football in the town.’
