It is with great pleasure that we can reveal that the newly appointed Basingstoke Town Captain will returning Midfielder – Simon Dunn.
Dan Brownlie spoke about the appointment;
“I’m really pleased to be able to reward Simon with the Captaincy. He’s the right man for the job – he is level headed, he sees the game with great clarity and his performances speak for themselves. He’s someone the younger lads can look up to and learn off, and the more experienced guys have the utmost respect for him. We’re really proud to have him lead us out.”
“There were a number of people in consideration for the role and that’s a great thing. I said to them today, whilst Dunny will take the armband – there is an expectancy to have eleven leaders out there at any point during a game. The trick with it is to make sure everyone is in unison and pulling in the same direction, Dunny is the type of lad to be able to create that culture. He will be one of the most technically gifted players in the league, there’s no question about that – but he is also one of the hardest working, so he will naturally demand more from everyone around him.”
Congratulations to Simon – everyone is behind you!
