We can confirm that Basingstoke Town FC have signed central defender Jon Boardman and midfielder Jack French.
“This week we were pushed to move for a little helping hand in some departments following a couple of injuries that we’ve picked up over the course o the last week. We’re really pleased that despite it being a bit of an SOS call, we’ve brought in some real quality. Jon’s career speaks for itself having represented Rochdale, Dagenham and Woking and became an immovable object during Hungerford Town’s rise through the leagues. He’s a powerful and commanding centre half, and I’ve no doubt we’ll benefit from his vast experience. He’s a class act and whilst we’re under no illusions that he’ll be unable to play regularly – for the occasions that we can call on him, we’ll benefit from it hugely.”
“I’ve worked with Jack French before, he was a pivotal figure during two promotion seasons at my previous club. He’s a very talented ball player, a gifted technician and a beautiful passer of the ball. Jack’s been training with us for the past couple of weeks following his decision to depart from Ashford Town where he recently played against us. I trust Jack implicitly and not only is he a good footballer, he’s a great guy to have about. He’s aware of the talent pool we already posses in the centre of the park but like Jon – he’ll be a terrific asset when called upon.”
“We don’t want to give our game away too early, but we have picked up a few injuries over the past week to add to our list so it was important we moved quickly to ensure we were covered. We’re looking forward to our battle with Tooting tomorrow.”
Welcome to the club Jon and Jack.
