Basingstoke Town AGM News

Last night our club Annual General Meeting took place which, for the first time in our club’s history, was held virtually due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions.

Chaired by Acting Chairman Kevin White, the AGM covered many aspects of the clubs future, past and present but most importantly the future plans and aspirations of the club.

In a positive and active meeting, the level of input from our members was first class. We discussed the clubs financial position, our future plans and, of course, the much discussed board elections were held. This was the first competitive election in the club’s history – eight nominees for six vacancies.

The results were counted and verified by the voting committee, and we are pleased to announce that the following people have been elected to the board.

Jack Miller

Steve Williams

Colin Stoker

Chris Walsh

Martin French was also re-elected and treasurer Liz Lockie who, following a short period as a hugely valued co-opted member, was voted as an official member of the board.

They join current Board Members Katie Oliver, Sarah Parsons, Colin Phillimore and Kevin White.

Kevin White said ‘It was a really positive evening. Whilst we are continually aware of just how much this club means to people, moments like last night reaffirm that relationship we have with our supporters and members. The Board looks really strong and we’re all looking forward to taking this club forward alongside our supporters.’

Newly elected board member Jack Miller had this to say…

“As a long term, fourth generation supporter of the club, I felt there was no better time than this new era to get involved in an official capacity. Finding a place the club can call home is nothing short of imperative and I will call on the Council and the community as a whole to make a stand and help to bring this to fruition; be it a return to The Camrose or a genuine like for like replacement.  I would urge anyone thinking of being a part of this new community club in any capacity: fans, volunteers, sponsors and the wider Basingstoke community to get in contact now, as exciting times certainly lie ahead.”

A Board Meeting has been arranged for Wednesday evening where the roles of Chairperson, Vice Chairperson and Secretary will be decided.

This is the perfect opportunity and moment for club members, supporters and local residents to get involved in your football club. If you would like to get involved as a volunteer of the club, please do not hesitate to contact us on Board@btfc.co.uk.
