Preview: V Farnborough (Friendly)

Tonight we face Farnborough FC in a mid-season friendly following a rare free weekend due to Thatcham Town’s involvement in the FA Trophy.

Zach Robinson & Alfie Saunders have both been recalled by their respective first teams and both involved in fixtures this week – with Zach having made the squad in Wimbledon’s FA Cup encounter with Doncaster Rovers.
Reuben Collins remains sidelined through injury as does D’andre Brown.
Dan Brownlie discusses his squad ahead of this evening’s fixture and his plans for the game;
“First and foremost it’s an opportunity to blow out a few cobwebs having had no fixture at the weekend. It also gives us an opportunity to try out one or two things without the pressure of points. That said, it’s a game of football so we of course want to perform! It’ll be a good test against higher league opposition with the added spice of a local derby.”
“Kuhly [Aaron Kuhl] is with Slough Town this evening. Jon [Underwood, Slough Joint-Manager] and I have been in conversation over the last few weeks and continuing a plan that is working for the both of us. We always knew he would attract interest and I said to Aaron all along that we want to facilitate his rise through the ranks.”
“Ryan [Suckling] will be going up against him in Aldershot colours. Ryan is part of the Aldershot U23’s squad and their first team asked if he could play in their friendly this evening. It’s an opportunity for the boy and I’m not going to stand in his way.”
“There will of course be opportunities for other boys this evening – whilst we expect to have both Ryan and Aaron at the weekend, tonight gives an opportunity for others to showcase their talents.”
“We’re all looking forward tonight – not only to test ourselves against farnborough – but it’ll be nice to be playing back in Basingstoke and hopefully we’ll have a decent crowd to support that.”
