The Club would like to reassure our supporters that there is no truth in the story that appeared today on the Blue Square South Official Website regarding Frank Gray having left the club.
I contacted Alan Alger at Blue Square as soon as we became aware of the situation, and he immediately launched an investigation into the source of the story.
Blue Square were then able to explain to me the route that these interviews take to appear on the website, and put me in contact with the reporter concerned.
This appears to have been a genuine error on his part, as when he conducted the interview he was convinced that he had read an article somewhere that stated that Frank was no longer at Basingstoke Town. He now realises he was mistaken and is extremely apologetic. He can not understand how this situation has arisen. In nearly 500 interviews, some of them with Frank, nothing like this has ever happened to him before. The Club accept this.
We would also like to extend our thanks to Alan Alger and Blue Square for their help and prompt action in resolving this matter, and editing the material concerned.
We now look forward to welcoming Alan Devonshire and his Hampton & Richmond side to the Camrose on Saturday.
