Basingstoke Town vs Tiverton Town

Basingstoke 3 - 3 Tiverton
06 Apr 2019 - 15:00The Camrose Stadium, RG22 6EZ

Sam Smart’s spectacular volley was only enough for one point as Tiverton scored two late goals.

A 35-yard volley from Smart, Harry Pearse’s lung busting run and Sam Deadfield’s strike were only enough to draw at the Camrose.

Smart put the home side ahead with a wonderful volley from 35-yards. With the ball in the air and no one around him he hit the ball first time and it bounced in front of the keeper and into the goal.

The next chance fell to Sam Argent when Smart’s cross found the forward, but his shot was saved.

Tiverton kept Chris Rackley busy as he had to throw himself at Jamie Price’s header.

A wonderful solo goal from Pearse as he ran from inside his own half to outside the area and fired a shot in the bottom corner.

The first big chance of the second half fell to Argent when Smart flicked pass split the defence, and Argents shot clipped the outside of the post.

Then Stewart Yetton halved the deficit with a far post header.

An immediate response from Deadfield as Argent lofted the ball over the defence and the captain, on his weaker foot, smashed the ball into the roof of the net.

Tiverton’s Mike Landricombe found his name on the score sheet as Rackley couldn’t keep his header out.

Just moments after Yetton equalised after a goal mouth scramble was tapped in.

One of the final chances of the game fell to Argent, from Yvan Jourdan’s pass, to the edge of the area and Argent smashed his effort off the bar.
