Sam Argent’s double meant Basingstoke took a huge step to safety.

A tidy first half goal from Yvan Jourdan and a second half Sam Deadfield penalty earned a much needed three points.

The first chance of the game fell to Deadfield after a well worked corner with Charlie Kennedy, the midfielder’s strike forced a good save from Rob Brown.

Reece Rusher then worked the ball well to drive a shot from an angle, but it went just over.

Jourdan then gave the home side the lead after a quick free kick from Kennedy found the forward who took it under control and tucked it under the on-rushing keeper.

Some brilliant link up play between Argent and Rusher as they played a one two into the box but Rusher’s shot went just wide.

Again, Rusher was involved in the attack as he found himself in the 6-yard box but his dinked shot was smothered by Brown.

HALF-TIME 1-0

The first chance of the second half fell to Rusher just 25 yards out as he smashed the bar.

Immediately after, Frome hit Basingstoke on the counter attack and a wonderful shot from Ryan Bath levelled the scores up.

Then a penalty was awarded to Basingstoke after captain Connor Roberts handled the ball from Deadfield’s shot.

Deadfield stepped up and put Basingstoke back into the lead.

Argent then got his first of the game as a wonderful left footed cross from Adam Everiss found the striker at the near post who just guided the ball past the keeper.

The forward then doubled his tally when Jourdan sprinted down the wing and rolled the ball across goal for Argent to tuck the ball in.
