It was a blistering start in Basingstoke colours for Jordan Edwards following an impressive pre-season campaign where he found genuine form and was certainly a prospect that excited the Basingstoke faithful. However, due to an injury he picked up in the final stages of pre-season it meant he was sidelined for the start of it. Having worked hard to regain his fitness and completing his rehab work – he worked his way back into the squad on October 5th – his official debut was a substitute appearance whilst 2-0 down against Highworth Town. For those of you who were lucky enough to be at the game will know how that story ends, for those who weren’t Jordan’s introduction into the game helped us earn a last gasp 3-2 victory to secure our first league win of the season.
We caught up with Jordan and how he is finding life in the blue and yellow of Basingstoke…
“Firstly on a personal level, I am really happy to be back playing again especially after such a tough injury – in truth, it’s been a difficult year due to various factors but I’m back playing now and really enjoying my football again.”
“The past couple of results haven’t gone our way – we’ve been unlucky there and our performances have deserved more from the games. We are a young side trying to improve every game and session; we all want to achieve more individually and collectively.”
The ex-Swindon Town player has embraced life at Basingstoke Town and is a popular member within the squad and fans alike. We’ve no doubt there is more to come from our midfield maestro as we’ve seen glimpses of his genius in recent performances. We’ve no doubt Jordan will continue to improve as we continue through the season.
“For me – it’s just about continuing to get fitter and stronger and get back to my sharpest.”
Jordan will be in tomorrow night’s squad for our friendly where we face Farnborough FC in a 7.45pm Kick Off at Winklebury.
